Well Done On Your Site
June 28, 2005

hello there!

im just emailing you to congratulate on your site... its wonderful! it really is. i have been a fanof Neil since i heard the idiot song on my monty python live at drury lane cd. hes magnificent isn't he (well obviously or you wouldn't have made a site for him).

I love neil (well you'd have to to visit his site, right! lol) so much and i've recently used the protest song for an english project. we have to use protest songs as a topic sort of thing and i thought in my head: all the prphets of doom, can always find room, in a world full of worry and fear!

i hope my teacher will think its ok (im in year 7) and of course i had to bleep out one part...

anyhoo congratulations, i better be going.

I was in the crowd at the 'Last ever Rutles gig' on 14th June at the Brook in Southampton, and i thought i would just email to say that its the best gig ive been to in ages! I had an excellent time and didnt want it to end! And Neil came out afterwards and signed my Rutles 7" which made me very happy indeed :D. So thankyou very very much for a wonderful evening!

Please come back to Southampton soon!!

From a fan from the Netherlands
June 24, 2005

since the 70's i'm a fan of your music, be it with the bonzo's, the rutles or your early solowork. I once did see the bonzo's in amsterdam in paradiso (with the robots of roger ruskin spear), i once saw a sort of spin-off, called the Bob Kerr Whoopee Band, i think feat. legs Larry and, to my great pleasure, I saw you giving a fine concert in Amsterdam in De Kleine Komedie, must have been in1985. The combination of great music and very funny humour has always given me something more to live for: some sort of optimism. A great experience was when i was on holiday in Wales, 1998, i met another Dutchman with whom i sang lots of Bonzo-songs, while doing the dishes. It was very funny singng e.g. Ali Baba's Camel (without using "lots of LSD"). While writing this, I'm listening to yout cd Taking off/Book of records. It's a fine record.
Neil, thanks for all the great music you gave me, and two or three of my best friends either.

June 20, 2005

Just to let you know how much I enjoyed the Rutle gig at the 100 Club in Oxford Street, the support act was not bad either.

You kindly signed a poster to my wife Nisha. I was the fella who came up to you at the very end.

Thanks again for a very enjoyable evening. Hope it wasn't the final tour.

Best regards

Norbert

It was really only the final tour using the name Rutles. Neil hopes to be touring for many years to come! ~ Bonnie

T-shirts?
June 15, 2005

Hi Neil,

Had a great night at Telford's warehouse, Chester. My brother and mate were taking the proverbial out of me 'cos I got all excited at passing Barry in the car park as we pulled in. Great to see living legends at close quarters, and dining with us plebs beforehand!
Was John Halsey ever in Hawkwind, I've a mate who reckons he was, but I've serious doubts?
Anyway any more T-shirts for sale, unfortunately you'd sold out of 'Legalise tea' shirts, but if there's a reunion tour in the offing then hopefully I'll get another chance to purchase one?
Cheers mate
Take care now

Do you mean the Philosopher's drinking song? Neil wrote the music. ~ Bonnie

Thanks for a great show last night, and for Horsham a few weeks ago.
Never thought I'd get the chance to sing along with "You're so
pusillanimous, oh yeah" twice in one year!

Looking forward to the reunion tour, and many more.

How about an AMERICAN Rutles farewell tour ??? - CHEERS ! neil - we spoke in 2003 at beatles fest. I mentionmed that I had been using "MUSIC FOR THE HEAD BALLET" as my theme song on my radio show from 1980-1997, and I am proud to say, I am back on the air again - same theme song, too ! -

Dear Nasty (c/o Neil)

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed last night at the 100 Club and that I wasn't the loony shouting "Derek Clapham" throughout!

Thanks for all the fun through the years also!

Great Site neil,

I am a HUGE fan of yours and have only been a fan for a year and a bit. I was 11 and a half when I first encountered you on my Monty Python's Live at Drury Lane CD singing the Idiot Song (by the way, great song!). I then saw you again in the Python movies and then in the Rutles All you need is cash.

I would love to see you live sometime, your welcome to australia anytime (adelaide Imparticular). Keep up the good work, NASTY!

Dear Neil ( & the boys)

Just a quick note from one of the many VERY happy old Rutles fans in the crowd on Thursday night.

I only heard about the farewell tour yesterday......( v sad news , btw )

Fantastic , lovely, great , Magical , funny , all my favourite songs .......sang myself hoarse

Sorry I missed the first half hour of the "support" bit.....did you play "Protest Song" ?....guess I missed it if you did....CHIZZ !!!

Coach House Memories
November 21, 2004

Dear Neil.
It was a treat to see you perform at the Coach House on Nov. 7th. I
was afraid it would be sold out so I got my tickets a month in advance!
As usual, it was the die hard "Ego Warriors" and their children!
Thank you for sharing your history and being a loving, guiding light
into the future.
I am an artist, and you are an "artists artist"!
You and the Bonzo's have been in my life since high school in the late
sixty's, now you are a requirement in my sculpture classes!
Please come back to America soon!

Love, David Svenson

Your site is Fantastic! Much respect!
November 17, 2004

Hi!

My name is Will Hehemann and I am a 17 year old resident of Arkansas. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the site that you have constructed for Neil Innes. There is no doubt that without such a site, my life would be much more gloomy. I have known of Neil Innes for quite a while now, but have only been listening to his works for about a year. It was amazing to find a copy of the Bonzo Dog Band's "Gorilla" down here in AR. When I visited Edinburugh in order to perform in the Fringe Festival, I attended a cd/record fair, found a copy of Best-iality of the Bonzos, and had a great chat with the dealer about the band. It was here that my interest for each member of the band really started. Several months ago, I stumbled upon your site and was dazzled with all of the many great aspects of it. Where else would I find so many videos and songs from Innes? I resort to each media file while I struggle to find a bit of cash to puchase the albums. Just the other weekend, I realized that he would be playing in Texas and begged my family to let me attend. However, it was my brother's birthday and instead we traveled to see Mike Watt and the Secondmen. While they were great, I am sure that they are nothing in comparison with Neil! I hope that he comes to the U.S. again! Anyway, thanks again for all that you have put into the site. I really appreciate it!

Will

Thank you for the many songs and laughs
November 13, 2004

i just wanted to let you know that your continuing contribution of the Rutles puts a smile on my heart everytime a new CD or interview or anything else that is related comes about. My brother had a best friend between 1984-1991 that introduced him to the Pre Fab Four and have been in awe ever since. However in 1991, his best friend committed suicide. I loved him like my own brother and is truly missed by all he has touched. So when ever i put on Let It Rut or Archeology...it brings me closer to him. So if you truly ever get discouraged about anything you have lost in your life put on the Rutles and i guarantee that the Rutland beat gets your funny bone smiling again.............it hasn't failed mine!

Thanks again, Denise

Concert in Portland
November 4, 2004

I was one of the lucky ones in Portland to see Neil's performance last night. It was really uplifting considering the frame of mind I've been in since the election. I've been a fan since the 70's when I systematically bought every Bonzo Dog album I could find and then went on to buy the solo albums and of course the Rutles.

I'm a piano player and a composer of simple melodies and Neil's playing has always been an inspiration to me. His songs have been running through my head so long they are part of my consciousness by now. (Not sure how to make that point, hope you understand.) Anyway seeing and hearing "How Sweet to be and Idiot" in performance meant a lot to me.

Thank you for coming to Portland, Neil. Your timing could not have been better.

Good luck on the rest of the tour.

Patrick

Wonderful show in Greeley
November 2, 2004

I saw Neil at a very tiny theatre in a very tiny town in Colorado, USA, this past Saturday.
It was quite wonderful. I'd dreamed of seeing/meeting a live Bonzo for years, knowing they'd broken up long ago, Viv was no more, and the possibility of a reunion slim.

Neil put on a fab fab show & then hung around for an hour afterwards to schmooze with the audience. I was enthralled! He signed 7 different things for me & posed for a photo & really conversed.

If he or anyone close to him reads this, please convey to him my heartfelt thanks for a super wonderful evening! I was the guy in the Firesign Theatre vest who was in the ROBOCHIC film with Phil Proctor. You must see it to see me as Gimp, the Satan's Onion!!

Again, thanks for the music and laughter -- a winning combo in any book! I've been playing my new Recollections CDs & will watch for the new release.

Still high from this past Saturday, I remain,

A HUGE fan in Buffalo, New York
October 26, 2004

Hi Neil, I saw you last week at the Tralfamadore Cafe in Buffalo, NY. What a show!! I definitely met one of my heroes!!

I have to thank you for being so gracious. You signed all my CDs (including the first "Rutles" CD - I half-expected you to spit on it after all the b/s those jerks put you through over the publishing!), talked to me and my sister, Annie, for about 5 minutes about a lot of different things, and were just so humble and appreciative. I can't say I knew what you were like - and who knows what "celebrities" will be like until you meet them - but you were so much cooler than I could have hoped for! How often do you meet one of your heroes only to find out they're a prick, you know? But you were just great, an absolutely terrific guy. And not to mention a wonderfully talented singer/songwriter and performer.

And the show was fantastic! I'm sorry it wasn't a bigger crowd for you, but I can tell you those of us who were there enjoyed ourselves immensely, and won't ever forget the experience. And I know several of my friends who are fans of yours wanted to go but had family commitments. They're all jealous now, of course, after hearing me rave about the show!! Even my kids (Ages 9, 5 and 2) are jealous of not being there, b/c they love "The Rutles" and "The Holy Grail" almost as much as me.

(I also signed up at the Buffalo show, but my handwriting is so bad I want to make sure you have it!)

And I also wanted to thank you for being such a nice guy. I think that was the most-amazing thing about the show, you hanging out at the end of it, signing everything put in front of you, and being just as gracious to the next person in line. I hope to meet you and your lovely and gracious wife again sometime. Best of luck with everything!

Take care,
Matt Deck

PS Great web page!! Nice links to everything, and very easy to navigate.

PPS Very much enjoying the new CDs!! I only had Rutles CDs (both of them) before the show, so I bought your 3 compilations. They're terrific!! And, of course, now signed by one of my heroes!!

Thanks for a wonderful evening...
