Being a life-long Beatles fan, I discovered Monty Python in
the mid 70s and, soon after, became a Rutles fan too! It didn't
take long to realize Neil is a genius in his own "write!" (Even
if he is out of his head!) I asked Neil to sign my CD cover
"To George" and he asked "Is that REALLY your name?" He then
told me to "Have half a seat!" as he and I shared his chair
for a photo (see attached). Meeting Neil was a moment I waited
about 25 years for and is a GREAT memory I will always cherish!
Thanks Neil! George Smith St. Louise, MO

Well
its been great to meet Neil at Chicago Beatlefest not once but
twice the last time he brought his Rutle colleagues up ,actually
it was the Rutles that I was first aware of Neil back in the
70s when it they first appeared on Saturday Night Live actually
around this time I discovered another band too which I had no
clue at the time was Neils old band called the Bonzo Dog Band
now back around this time in 1978 way before the days of Weird
Al or even before the Dr. Demento Show when I was in High School
and was listening to the Heavy Groups at the time like Black
Sabbath, Deep Purple,Led Zepplin ,Grand Funk etc.etc. I found
a album in the used record store called Tadpoles by a group
called the Bonzo Dog Band now when I saw the album cover with
there long hair I assumed there were another Hard Rock band
and had heard of them because I read somewhere they were in
the Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour and I was always a Big
Beatle Fan anyway well I took it home ready to crank it out
the jams and the first song I heard by them was Hunting Tigers
Out In Indiah well I freaked I thought want the hell is this
,what kind of music are these guys playing I never heard anything
like this before I was so mad how I wasted 2 dollars on this
album I was mad for about a week when the music just sticked
in my mind then I realised that they were good musicians since
I played in the Marching band in High School ,then I thought
well there pretty off the wall and funny then I started liking
them and had to see if I could oder more of there music which
the History album you could order and finally got , it seem
the Bonzo changed my life, I use to take everything in life
serious till I discovered the Bonzos as Rolling Stone had surveyed
years ago in there magazine the Bonzos were one of the top bands
to die before there time ,critics even loved them and they turned
this non believer into one...
